ParAqua celebrated microbial diversity at the International Microorganism Day 2024 in Croatia.
International Microorganism Day (IMD) is a yearly event from the initiative of Federation of European Microbiological Societies (FEMS) organised by national microbiological societies locally and worldwide. The aim is to raise public awareness about importance of microbial diversity and all the ways in which microbes are shaping human, animal, and plant life as well as their importance for environment and global climate. The Croatian Microbiological Society (CMS) organises IMD in 2024 as a physical event for the second time. This year, it will be organised as an educational walking tour in the Maksimir park in Zagreb.
Eight stations will be posted along the route each devoted to a particular microbiological topic. One of the stations on freshwater environments will be dedicated to the COST Action ParAqua and the whole event will promote the Action and its outputs. The promotional material will be produced as banners and posters in local language (Croatian) designed by volunteers of the Croatian Microbiological Society and ParAqua Members for the implementation of this joint activity.
